Le Canyon Sous la Mer

Le matin, la mer est plate comme du verre. Polly vole bas au-dessus de l'eau. Ses ailes touchent presque l'eau.

In the morning the sea was flat like glass. Polly flew low over the water. Her wings almost touched it.

Puis l'eau change de couleur. Près du sable, elle est verte. Puis elle est bleu foncé, très foncé. Elle ressemble à une ligne dans la mer.

Then the water changed color. Near the sand it was green. Then it was dark, dark blue. It looked like a line in the sea.

Pourquoi ? Sous l'eau, il y a un canyon géant. C'est le plus grand canyon sous-marin d'Europe. Il commence près de la plage et descend très, très profond.

Why? Under the water there is a giant canyon. It is the biggest underwater canyon in Europe. It starts near the beach and goes down very, very deep.

Le canyon apporte la force des tempêtes lointaines à cette plage. Ce soir-là, Polly voit de fines lignes de vagues sur la mer. Les géants arrivent.

The canyon brings the power of far storms to this beach. That evening Polly saw thin lines of waves on the sea. The giants were on their way.
