Three Heartbeats

In the morning Polly saw a cheetah. It sat very still on a small hill of earth. It was watching a gazelle. Polly sat on a branch and watched too.

Am Morgen sah Polly einen Geparden. Er saß ganz still auf einem kleinen Erdhügel. Er beobachtete eine Gazelle. Polly saß auf einem Ast und schaute auch zu.

Then the cheetah ran. It is the fastest animal on land. In three seconds it runs as fast as a car. Polly flew after it. She lost it very fast.

Dann rannte der Gepard los. Er ist das schnellste Tier an Land. In drei Sekunden ist er so schnell wie ein Auto. Polly flog hinterher. Sie verlor ihn sehr schnell.

The gazelle jumped away and escaped. This is normal. Most hunts fail. The cheetah was very tired. It rested in the shade.

Die Gazelle sprang weg und entkam. Das ist normal. Die meisten Jagden gehen schief. Der Gepard war sehr müde. Er ruhte sich im Schatten aus.

Here is a funny fact. Cheetahs cannot roar. They chirp like birds. The cheetah chirped at Polly. Polly chirped back.
